Gypsum Board Formation and Applications

Gypsum board is a panel board product in the other names of plasterboard, wallboard or drywall which is manufactured from gypsum rock. The gypsum rocks are crushed to make a fine powder and heated to form calcined gypsum that is applied as a base of gypsum plaster and gypsum products. The gypsum board is formed as layers of paper with the slurry which is a mixture of the calcined gypsum with water applied in between of each layer. Later, the chemical formation is turned into a rock state so the paper is bonded together with the chemical and finally it is used as a gypsum product for further applications.

Gypsum board has many types that vary with different shapes, edges and measurements. Also, the plasterboard is varied based on the applications such as

Gypsum Board or Plaster Board is applied over concrete surface, metal, and wood with paper and fibre glass. It is used mainly for construction work – ceiling, wall, interior decoration, joint surface, and commercial structures. It is best for fire resistant, plywood veneer with good quality and durable.
